Terms & Conditions
Last updated: June 6, 2026
These Terms & Conditions govern your use of The Manuscript Evaluator, a manuscript evaluation web application created by Studio Andee.
By creating an account, purchasing evaluations, uploading a manuscript, or using The Manuscript Evaluator, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you should not use The Manuscript Evaluator.
1. About The Manuscript Evaluator
The Manuscript Evaluator is an AI-assisted manuscript evaluation tool.
The service allows users to upload literary manuscripts and generate structured evaluations. The AI system behind La Cabine has been heavily pre-prompted and designed to assess manuscripts in a way that aims to resemble the experience of a thoughtful human reader.
The Manuscript Evaluator is intended to provide useful literary feedback. It is not a publishing service, agency service, editing service, legal service, academic assessment, or guarantee of literary or commercial success.

3. Eligibility
To use The Manuscript Evaluator, you must be at least 18 years old or the age of majority in your jurisdiction.
By using The Manuscript Evaluator, you confirm that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
4. User accounts
To use certain features of The Manuscript Evaluator, you must create an account using your email address.
You are responsible for:
- Providing accurate account information
- Keeping your login details secure
- All activity that occurs under your account
- Not allowing unauthorized access to your account
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, misuse the service, attempt to bypass payment, interfere with the system, or use The Manuscript Evaluator unlawfully.
5. Evaluations and packages
The Manuscript Evaluator uses purchased evaluations to allow users to generate manuscript evaluations.
Evaluations can be purchased through the web application and are linked to your user account.
Evaluations:
- Can only be used inside The Manuscript Evaluator
- Have no monetary value outside The Manuscript Evaluator
- Cannot be exchanged for cash
- Are not transferable to another person or account
- May be refundable within 14 days unless already used
- May be lost if your account is deleted
We may change the number of evaluations required for certain features in the future. Changes will not retroactively affect evaluations already purchased or generated.
Package purchases are refundable only as a whole package within 14 days. If one evaluation from the package is used, the package is no longer refundable.
6. Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe or another third-party payment provider.
By making a purchase, you agree to provide accurate payment information and authorize the payment provider to charge the selected payment method.
We do not store your full card details.
Prices, taxes, currencies, and available payment methods may vary depending on your location and the configuration of the web application.
7. Refunds and withdrawal rights
Purchased evaluations are generally refundable within 14 days where required by applicable law, unless already used.
Because The Manuscript Evaluator provides digital services and AI-generated evaluations, your withdrawal right may be limited once the service has started and an evaluation has been used.
If you are located in a jurisdiction with mandatory consumer protection rules, nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot legally be waived.
If you believe you are entitled to a refund under applicable law, contact us at:
8. Uploading manuscripts
You may upload manuscripts or literary text for the purpose of generating an evaluation.
By uploading a manuscript, you confirm that:
- You own the rights to the manuscript, or you have permission to upload it
- The manuscript does not violate the rights of another person
- The manuscript does not contain unlawful material
- You are not uploading confidential third-party material without authorization
You retain ownership of your manuscript.
The Manuscript Evaluator does not claim ownership over manuscripts uploaded by users.
9. Manuscript storage
The Manuscript Evaluator does not store uploaded manuscript files after the evaluation has been generated.
However, The Manuscript Evaluator may store:
- The generated evaluation
- The file name of the uploaded manuscript
- Metadata needed to connect the evaluation to your account
You may manually delete generated feedback from your account.
Deleted feedback cannot be recovered.
10. Generated evaluations
The Manuscript Evaluator generates manuscript evaluations using AI.
The evaluations are intended to support reflection, revision, and literary understanding. They are not statements of objective truth.
You understand and agree that:
- Evaluations may contain errors, omissions, or interpretations you disagree with
- Evaluations may not reflect the opinion of publishers, agents, editors, critics, prize committees, or readers
- Evaluations do not guarantee publication, representation, sales, recognition, or success
- Publishing outcomes depend on timing, taste, market conditions, luck, context, relationships, positioning, and other factors outside our control
- The Manuscript Evaluator cannot predict or guarantee publishing reality
You are responsible for deciding how to use, interpret, accept, reject, or act on any evaluation.
11. No professional advice
The Manuscript Evaluator does not provide legal, financial, publishing, agency, editorial, or professional career advice.

12. Downloading and emailing feedback
Users may be able to download generated feedback as a PDF.
Users may also be able to send the feedback to themselves by email as a PDF.
You are responsible for storing your own copies if you wish to keep them.
If feedback is deleted from your account, it cannot be recovered by The Manuscript Evaluator.
13. Account deletion
You may delete your user profile through the web application where this feature is available.
Deleting your profile will permanently remove your account access and stored feedback associated with your account, subject to any limited retention required by law or necessary for compliance, accounting, security, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution.
If you delete your account, you will lose any remaining evaluations. Lost evaluations will not be refunded unless required by applicable law.
