Last updated: June 6, 2026

The Manuscript Evaluator is a manuscript evaluation web application created by Studio Andee. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data when you use The Manuscript Evaluator.

For questions about this Privacy Policy or your personal data, you can contact us at: hello@manuscriptevaluator.com

1. Who we are

The Manuscript Evaluator is operated by Studio Andee.

In this Privacy Policy, “The Manuscript Evaluator,” “we,” “us,” or “our” refers to Studio Andee and the The Manuscript Evaluator web application.

2. What The Manuscript Evaluator does

The Manuscript Evaluator allows users to upload literary manuscripts and generate AI-assisted manuscript evaluations. The AI system has been carefully pre-prompted and structured to assess manuscripts in a way that aims to resemble a thoughtful human reading experience.

The evaluation is designed to be useful, interpretive, and reflective. However, it is not a guarantee of publishing success, market potential, literary value, agent interest, commercial viability, or reader reception.

3. Personal data we collect

We collect only the information necessary to provide and improve the service.

Account data

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Your email address
  • Your account login information
  • Account-related technical identifiers needed to keep your account functional and secure

We do not require or store your name unless this changes in the future and is clearly disclosed.

Payment data

Payments are processed through Stripe. We do not store your full payment card details.

Stripe may process information such as:

  • Payment method details
  • Billing information
  • Transaction history
  • Fraud prevention and compliance data

Stripe’s processing of payment data is governed by Stripe’s own privacy policy and legal terms.

Manuscript-related data

When you use The Manuscript Evaluator, you may upload a manuscript file for evaluation.

We do not store the manuscript itself after the evaluation has been generated.

We may store:

  • The generated feedback/evaluation
  • The file name of the manuscript
  • Metadata necessary to connect the feedback to your user account
  • The date and time of the evaluation

You may manually delete feedback from your account. Once deleted, the feedback cannot be recovered because we do not retain backup copies for user access.

Email delivery data

If you choose to send your evaluation to yourself by email, we process the email address associated with your account and the generated evaluation PDF for the purpose of sending that email.

Technical and usage data

We may collect limited technical data necessary to operate, secure, debug, and improve The Manuscript Evaluator, such as:

  • Browser type
  • Device type
  • IP address
  • Approximate location based on IP address
  • Log data
  • Error reports

  • Generate manuscript evaluations
  • Display your generated feedback inside your account

5. Legal bases for processing

Where applicable under GDPR or similar data protection laws, we rely on the following legal bases:

Performance of a contract

We process your account data, manuscript-related data, evaluations, and generated feedback in order to provide the La Cabine service you request.

Legitimate interests

We may process technical and usage data to keep The Manuscript Evaluator secure, functional, and reliable, and to improve the service.

Legal obligations

We may process certain payment, tax, accounting, or compliance-related data where required by law.

Consent

Where required, we may ask for your consent for optional features, cookies, marketing communications, or other processing that legally requires consent.

6. Manuscripts and confidentiality

We understand that manuscripts are creative, personal, and often unpublished works.

The Manuscript Evaluator is designed so that uploaded manuscript files are used for the purpose of generating the requested evaluation and are not stored after the evaluation process is complete.

However, the generated feedback and the file name may remain stored in your account until you delete them or delete your account.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to upload any manuscript or text you submit to The Manuscript Evaluator.

7. AI processing

The Manuscript Evaluator uses AI technology to generate manuscript evaluations. Your uploaded manuscript is processed for the purpose of producing the evaluation you request.

We do not claim that the AI evaluation represents objective truth, guaranteed literary quality, publishing reality, agent opinion, market performance, or future commercial success.

The evaluation is an interpretive tool intended to help you understand how the manuscript may be read, structured, experienced, and improved.

8. Evaluations and packages

Your account may contain purchased evaluations that allow you to generate manuscript evaluations.

Evaluations are linked to your account. They have no monetary value outside The Manuscript Evaluator, cannot be exchanged for cash, and are not transferable.

Purchased evaluations may be refundable for 14 days where applicable, unless already used.

Package purchases may be refunded only as a whole package within 14 days. Once one evaluation from that package is used, the package is no longer refundable.

If you delete your account, any remaining evaluations will be permanently lost.

9. Data retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

In general:

  • Account data is retained while your account exists.
  • Generated feedback and file names are retained until you delete them or delete your account.
  • Uploaded manuscript files are not stored after the evaluation has been generated.
  • Payment and transaction data may be retained as required for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.
  • Technical logs may be retained for a limited period for security, debugging, and operational purposes.

When you delete your account, your profile and associated stored feedback are deleted, subject to any limited retention required by law, security, tax, accounting, or dispute resolution obligations.

10. Deleting your data

You may delete individual feedback items manually from your account.

You may also delete your user profile. Deleting your profile will permanently remove your account access and any stored feedback associated with your account.

Deleted feedback cannot be recovered.

If you delete your account, any unused evaluations will be lost and will not be refunded.

We do not sell your personal data.

We may share limited data with trusted service providers where necessary to operate The Manuscript Evaluator, including:

  • Payment processors, such as Stripe
  • Hosting providers
  • Authentication providers
  • Email delivery providers
